Nigeria is abundant with brilliant and talented artists. These artists are not only singers, but they excel in other fields as well. They are also professional songwriters, rappers, dancers, producers, and entrepreneurs.

 

  1. Fire Boy DML

Adedamola Adefolahan or popularly known as Fireboy DML, is a promising Nigerian singer and songwriter. His breakthrough song “Jealous”  was a powerful Afro-pop song. The artist’s debut album Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps was warmly acknowledged. He has a soulful voice and got a thumbs up from fellow artist Wizkid.

 

  1. Lady Donli

Zainab Donli, widely known as Lady Donli, is a Nigerian singer from the state of Kaduna. She got her first break in 2016 with her album Wallflower. She went on international tours in the U.S.in 2019 and is booked for a few more in the U.K.  We’re excited to see what 2020 holds for her.

 

  1. Tems

Tems orTemilade Openiyi, in real life, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter. She gained popularity with her first single, Mr. Rebel. She made success with multiple tracks followed by her breakthrough hit single Try Me. We’ll see what she got as an upcoming music producer.

 

  1. Oxlade

Ikuforiji Abdulrahman Olaitan, known for his stage name Oxlade is a promising Nigerian singer from Lagos. He made success when his song BlaqBonez’ Mamiwota topped the charts in 2019. We’re excited to hear for more from this singer with smooth, high-reaching vocals.

 

  1. Joeboy 

Joseph Akinfenwa Donus, also known as “Joeboy,” is a Nigerian singer who has been around since 2016. He made it to the limelight recently with his cover of Ed Sheeran’s Shape of you. Mr. Eazi mentored his career with chart-busting songs like Don’t call me back and Baby. Joeboy’s lucky year is 2020, with a win at Africa’s Music Award.

 

  1. Zlatan

Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, also known as Zlatan, is a Nigerian songwriter and dancer. Zlatan took a big leap in his music career when he won Airtel’s “One Mic Campus Tour” in Abeokuta. His signature songs, “Ayiii:, “Ibili”, and “Kapaichumarimarichopaco”  topped the charts. He was also noted for starting a major dance craze called “Zanku,” which gained international acceptance.

 

  1. Dami Uniru

Dami Uniru is a Nigerian singer and songwriter who had her first EP Cliche, recorded in 2017. She became popular with Nigerian young listeners with her songs “Iyawo and “Fallin.” Her recent 7-track EP Bri’s Lounge is an expression of stories about growth, loss, and mortality. We are expecting more promising compositions from this brilliant Nigerian artist.

 

  1. Rema

Divine Ikubor known professionally as Rema is a young and successful Nigerian singer and rapper.  He is currently a contract artist of Jonzing World. His songs are expressions of his open admiration for beautiful girls. One of his remarkable tracks is “Iron Man” – the only Nigerian song recognized by Barack Obama’s 2019 playlist. He won The Headies Next Rated Award. He ended 2019 by covering The Fader. This successful 19-year old is dubbed as Nigerian pop’s golden child.

 

  1. Eazi

Mr. Eazi, whose real name is Oluwatosin Ajibade, is a Nigerian songwriter, singer, and entrepreneur. He is a contract star of Banku music. He started booking music artists for college parties in 2008 and recorded his first EP “About to Blow” in 2013.  His single “Skin Tight” hit international markets. Lately, he closed a business licensing deal with Universal Africa.
